Educational Resources to Support Young Learners
The VKRP fall assessment term recently wrapped up in November, and the ECE Resource Hub has resources to support you all year long! The ECE Resource Hub provides tools, examples, and guidance to help you target your support for students’ developing skills. It also provides strategies and resources to help you stay focused on your instructional goals throughout the year.
New to the Hub?
Developed through funding and partnership with the Virginia Department of Education, the ECE Resource Hub is a website that offers free, high-quality educational resources for those caring for children from birth to five, including pre-k and kindergarten teachers! We’ve outlined three ways the Hub can help as you reflect on your VKRP data and plan your next steps:
1. Focus on Specific Skills
The ECE Hub offers support for each of the four critical skills measured by VKRP. These supports can be found within our Core Skill pages.
Within each of these Core Skill pages on the Hub, you’ll also find more focused topics. In the Relate Core Skill page, for instance, you can narrow your focus to look at resources related to Fostering Empathy, Teacher-Child Relationships, Promoting Self-Confidence, and more! These pages also include professional development guides, Activity Cards, video exemplars, and classroom strategies.
2. Expand Your Classroom Library
The ECE Resource Hub has an extensive curated book collection that centers around the five Core Skills. Our book collection features a diverse range of authors, illustrators, and characters. After choosing a specific skill you’d like to support, head to the book collection, and select a story. You’ll have access to both a virtual read-aloud version of the story, as well as a lesson plan to guide you through interactive and engaging book readings with children.
3. Try a New Strategy
If you’re looking for new strategies to implement in your classroom to help children with relationship-building and self-regulation, head over to our Strategy Library! The Strategy Library features video lessons, learning suites, and printable resources. You can use your VKRP data to guide your search.
