From a large library of resources to targeted instructional activities, VKRP offers a variety of instructional resources for you to explore and use! Below, we’ll outline a few ways to access specific resources, as well as provide additional resources that you might find useful!
About VKRP Instructional Resources
VKRP’s wide range of instructional resources were designed to help teachers and school administrators support early learning skills in the areas of mathematics, self-regulation, and social skills. These resources were developed by researchers at the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) with expertise in teacher-child interactions and instruction. Many of them have been used as part of professional development programs for teachers. Educators have shared how helpful they find these tools and how easy they are to navigate and use.
VKRP’s instructional resources include skill and strategy guides as well as suggested activities to support learning. The resources are organized by domains and skills across the areas of mathematics, self-regulation, and social skills.
The VKRP skill and strategy guides provide information on a learning domain, how skills develop within that domain, and how they can be supported throughout the day. Within the skill and strategy guides, you’ll find suggested activities that support early learning skills and can be used to help students one-on-one, in small groups, or as a whole classroom. The activities are not intended to replace curricula but can be used to supplement classroom instruction.
Accessing VKRP Instructional Resources

Option 1: View the Instructional Resources tab on the VKRP web portal.
- Log into your Legacy PALS account and click on the VKRP tab.

Option 2: Follow the links in VKRP Reports to access specific instructional resources.
-
- Based on the data collected, recommended links will be displayed on kindergarten student and classroom reports, directing teachers to activities that address additional instructional resources needed for their individual students and classroom.
- For pre-kindergarten children and classrooms, all instructional resources boxes will be checked as these skill areas are constantly developing, and the resources should be explored to provide additional instruction.
Option 3: Browse the Using Instructional Resources page on the VKRP public website for an overview of VKRP instructional resources, including sample resources and classroom activities.
There are additional resources available throughout our VKRP website as well as some of our partners’ websites as well:
