Feedback is Our Fuel

Giving and receiving feedback is an essential part of supporting growth and improvement in our world of education. Students rely on constructive feedback every day to learn and grow. Teachers rely on feedback to enhance their practice, and leaders rely on feedback to continually support program modifications, additions, and improvement. We, at VKRP, rely on your input to help VKRP be the best it can be.

Our team is deeply committed to learning from you, the experts in the field, about your experience with VKRP. We always shoot for the stars and aim to GLOW, but we know there are also always lessons to be learned and room to GROW in our mission to support the field.

“Feedback is the Breakfast of Champions”
– Ken Blanchard

Rest assured that your feedback is not exclusively kept with VKRP.  It is shared with stakeholders across the state of Virginia and in updates to the Virginia Department of Education to highlight how VKRP is being used, ways it can be improved, and concerns within the educational field.

We know how scarce time is for educators in a normal time, much less one that continues to be impacted by COVID.  Therefore, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for the time you take to provide VKRP feedback because we know how very limited your time is.

Spring 2021 Survey Findings

An executive summary of the VKRP survey findings from spring 2021 has been published to the VKRP website, which you can access here. These findings speak volumes of the dedication, flexibility, resilience and strength of families, teachers, and leaders in such a challenging year. They have been critical to helping our team and stakeholders understand the context of assessment and instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Notable findings from last spring showed that:

  • Spring 2021 VKRP administration was less challenging for teachers than in the fall of 2020, regardless of instructional formats (e.g., in-person, remote, hybrid).
  • Despite COVID stressors, teachers felt satisfied with student progress (76%) and felt that they were making a significant difference in the lives of their students (96%).
  • 89% of teachers reported that families were doing their part to support student learning last year.

You Asked, and We Answered

Based on your fall 2020 and spring 2021 survey responses, we strapped on our boots and got to work to improve the VKRP experience. As just a few examples to highlight, your survey feedback helped our team to:

  • Respond to the needs of virtual learners by developing and launching a remote version of the Early Mathematics Assessment System (EMAS)
  • Create flags within the Well-Being summary report to help teachers and administrators easily and quickly see which students might need additional support
  • Add additional resources for students with disabilities and English language/multilingual learners onto the VKRP public website

This is why YOUR feedback is critically important in terms of what VKRP administration looked like across the state this fall.  We would love to hear how your fall 2021 VKRP assessment experience went!  The fall 2021 VKRP user survey was originally emailed out on October 12th . We know how limited your time is but if you could take a moment to share with us your thoughts, we would really appreciate it. We want to make your feedback as actionable as possible, so try to be specific in any comments you might add.  And another bonus- all teachers who respond will be entered to win one of 100 $50 Gift Cards. That late-night add-to-cart? Consider it covered!
